Hotter weather into the weekend

A strengthening area of high pressure in the upper levels of the atmosphere will contribute to hotter weather over the next few days. It will also steer rain chances away from North Texas. Afternoon highs today will climb into the middle 90s beneath sunny skies. The humidity will make it feel like 100.

There’s a chance of thunderstorms tonight up in Oklahoma. Some of these storms could drift south toward the Red River by Friday morning. Thus, a brief rain chance is in place for locations in far North Texas (near the Red River) early Friday. Aside from that, sunny and hotter weather is in store for the upcoming weekend with triple digits in store.

The heat wave will extend into next week as well with little hope for rain.
