Man arrested after arranging to meet with Dallas cop posing online as 13-year-old girl

A Lone Oak man is behind bars after he arranged to have sex with an undercover officer posing online as a 13-year-old girl.

James Alfred Moad, 51, faces a charge of online solicitation of a minor under 14 years old. It’s unclear whether he has an attorney.

On June 30, Moad replied to a Craigslist ad posted by the undercover officer, and the two began emailing. The ad said that the girl needed a new phone because hers had been broken by her dad, an arrest-warrant affidavit states.

After several emails, Moad sent a cell phone and the two began texting. During one conversation, the officer asked “What’s wrong with my age?” and Moad texted back, “13 is pretty much [too] young for me,” police wrote in the affidavit.

The two texted for several more days, and Moad asked for nude photographs from the girl multiple times. He engaged in several conversations with her about sexual conduct, the affidavit states.

On July 7 and 8, Moad sent several nude photographs of himself. He made multiple mentions of how much trouble he could get into for sending the photos and for meeting up with her because of her age, police wrote in the affidavit.

Moad made plans to meet the girl the morning of July 11 and engage in sexual intercourse, the affidavit states.

When Moad texted that morning that he had arrived at the Far North Dallas apartment where they had agreed to meet, authorities arrested him.

Moad is being held in the Dallas County jail in lieu of $25,000.
