Fort Worth police investigating after man found dead in road

A man was found dead on a road in Fort Worth on Friday, police said.

Police responded about 11 a.m. to a shooting call in the 3600 block of Reed Street, in southeast Fort Worth.

Officers found a man lying in the road with “apparent injuries,” police said. His identity was not released, and the cause of his death has not been determined.

KXAS-TV (NBC5) reported that the man was delivering furniture and was carjacked. Police also told the TV station that the stolen truck was found a few blocks away.

Canales Furniture, an Arlington-based company, confirmed to NBC5 that the man who died was an employee.

“We will miss him more than words can express,” a statement released by the company said. “He was not just our coworker but part of the families who complete Canales Furniture.”

No further information was available.
