A cool front pushing into Texas this weekend could bring humidity relief next week

HOUSTON, Texas (KTRK) — We’re watching a cool front pushing down the Plains that could bring some slight humidity relief to Houston next week.

A relatively dry flow will persist over Houston through the weekend as an upper level low spins to our east. That said, there will be still be enough moisture in the atmosphere for the low to develop a stray shower or thunderstorm in the afternoon as temperatures warm into the low 90s. It will get a little hotter on Sunday afternoon ahead of the weak front, which brings a 20% chance of rain to Southeast Texas on Sunday.

So are we going to get a cool front next week?

We believe this front will push all the way into Houston Sunday night and Monday, which would deliver a dose of lower humidity more than anything else for a day or two. You’ll feel the biggest change in the mornings Tuesday through Thursday when temperatures dip into the upper 60s. Front or no front, high temperatures will still climb into the low 90s, so it’s not yet time to pull out the fall wardrobe.

What’s happening in the tropics?

Hurricane Earl is rapidly moving away from Bermuda, and there are three other tropical waves over the Atlantic that could potentially develop over the next five days. We’re also watching the southwest Gulf of Mexico for late next week. For the very latest check out our daily tropical update.
