Security threat prompts evacuation of American Airlines flight from D-FW

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. — An American Airlines flight from Dallas-Fort Worth to New Mexico was evacuated Sunday after landing at the Albuquerque airport because of a security threat, authorities said.

All 179 people aboard Flight 928 from Dallas-Fort Worth were taken off the jet in the morning at Albuquerque International Sunport and were bused to the terminal, airport officials said. No injuries were reported.

FBI officials in Albuquerque did not disclose the nature of the security threat but said that the matter was being investigated and that no other information was available.

Airport officials were forced to shut down one of its three runways for three hours while the investigation took place, an airport spokesperson said.

A spokesperson for American Airlines said passengers were deplaned using airstairs before being bused to the terminal and that “the threat was later deemed non-credible.”

The passengers had to go through TSA screening again before being allowed back on the airplane to collect their belongings.

The incident didn’t affect other American Airlines flights, except for the return trip from Albuquerque to D-FW, which was delayed from 10:41 a.m. to around 5 p.m. local time.
