2 hospitalized after plane goes down, catches fire in Carrollton, police say

Two people are in the hospital Monday evening after an aircraft they were flying in went down in Carrollton and caught fire, police said.

Shortly after 8 p.m., officers were notified that a single-engine aircraft crashed onto the road near the East Hebron Parkway and Province Drive, about 22 miles north of downtown Dallas, said Carrollton Police Officer, Jennifer Monroe, a spokeswoman for the department.

Monroe said the department does not know the condition of the two people who were injured. No information was available related to their identities.

No one on the ground was injured during the incident, Monroe said.

The Federal Aviation Administration has been called to investigate the crash, Monroe said.

The aircraft was a Mooney M20K that was headed to Addison Airport from Abilene Regional Airport, according to a KXAS-TV (NBC5) report.

East Hebron Parkway is closed between Marsh Ridge Road and Arbor Crest Drive because of clean-up.
