A Richland Hills man was arrested on a murder charge Sunday morning after police said he stabbed his 8-year-old grandson to death.

Philip Hughes, 62, faces a capital murder charge. He’s being held in the jail at the North Richland Hills Police Department.

Police responded about 7:50 a.m. to the 3500 block of Labadie Drive, off Hurst Boulevard, where they found Hughes’ grandson dead. Authorities did not immediately release the child’s name.

Hughes was found near the house and was arrested without further incident, police said. Police released few other details about the stabbing, but said “no other suspects are involved.”
