A board member of the Islamic Association of Lewisville and Flower Mound told The Dallas Morning News that the money, estimated to be in the thousands of dollars, was intended to go toward relief efforts in the wake of Turkey-Syria earthquake victims. The burglar cut a circular hole cut beneath a door’s electronic lock to get to the donation box, according to mosque officials.

Investigators used footage from surveillance cameras to identify the burglary suspect, police said.

Khan was arrested in Denton County in July 2021 on a charge of theft of property between $750 and $2,500, according to court records. The incident involved a mosque in Denton, according to a KTVT-TV (Channel 11).

Police said Khan is still at large and may be driving a white 2022 Volkswagen Taos SUV, with Virginia license plate UYZ-5770.

Anyone with any information regarding his location may call Flower Mound police at 972-874-3307.
