Storms move out, but Saturday holds another chance for strong line

HOUSTON, Texas (KTRK) — Strong to severe storms pushed through parts of SE Texas Thursday evening bringing damaging winds and large hail. Now that the storms have moved out, we will be looking at pretty dry conditions Friday. We should start off mostly clear with temperatures in the upper 60s/low 70s. Friday will warm into the low 90s under partly cloudy skies. We will have a slight chance for afternoon rain but most of us will stay dry.

Rain chances increase Saturday as our next disturbance moves through. We could also see the potential for a couple of strong to severe storms Saturday afternoon-evening.

Another ozone pollution watch is also in effect.

Are we expecting more storms this weekend?

Yes, a few strong thunderstorms are possible late Saturday and overnight into Sunday. A stray storm cannot be ruled out for Sunday, but the rain chance is now less than 20%.

Is an early summer heat wave coming?

Well, yes! Temperatures will be back in the mid 90s this weekend, and they only go up next week as a heat ridge builds in. Some days next week could experience a heat index above 108, which is enough to trigger a Heat Advisory.
