The rain is clear, the heat is on… expect heat advisories this week

HOUSTON, Texas (KTRK) — It’s about to feel the way it so often does in Houston in the summertime… hot! The weak ahead is all about high pressure that will keep the rain away and the heat in play. High temperatures each afternoon will warm to near 100 degrees, with feels-like temperatures pushing around 110. Those numbers I’m seeing would be hot enough to trigger heat advisories for the viewing area by the middle of the week.

What’s the deal with this early summer heat wave coming?

A dominant weather pattern will set up that will keep Houston hot and dry. Each day the heat will build upon the previous day, where temperatures could break the triple digits by week’s end, and the heat index certainly will too.

What is happening in the tropics?

The swirl of low pressure near the Azores has weakened, so the tropics are quiet for now. You can read/watch more about it on our Tropical Update page.
