Carjacking suspect leads deputies on chase after woman allegedly shot during robbery outside Costco

HARRIS COUNTY, Texas (KTRK) — A series of crimes led to the end of a chase and an arrest at an apartment complex in northeast Harris County on Wednesday.

It all began with a shooting at a Costco off of West Townsen Boulevard in Humble at about 1:30 p.m., according to police.

Humble police said a female victim was shot when she was attacked by a man and woman who took her car and wallet while she was putting away groceries.

Officers arrived and applied medical gauze to the victim, who was taken to the hospital and is expected to be OK.

The shooting victim told police the suspects drove off in her car.

Moments after the robbery, police said a Flock LPR camera notified an officer of a stolen vehicle traveling westbound on West Townsen Boulevard.

Police said the stolen car was then spotted by a tow truck driver at the Waffle House on Will Clayton Parkway, just off Highway 59.

The female suspect then got out of the car and went into another, ordering the driver to get out. Police said she then used that newly stolen car to ram into responding officers arriving at the scene. She was arrested and will be transferred to the Montgomery County Jail.

That’s when the male suspect took off, and a chase ensued, reaching speeds of up to 100 mph and lasting about 10 minutes, authorities said.

According to Humble police, the suspect fled into Montgomery County and turned around at Roman Forest, evading officers until he bailed out and ditched the car.

The suspect then reportedly ran into the Haverstock Hills Apartments at 5619 Aldine Bender Road, near Bush Airport, where is told he lives. Deputies said he remained inside an apartment until he ultimately came out and surrendered.

SkyEye flew over the scene and captured a heavy police presence in the area.

Video shows residents running from the search area before the arrest was made. Shortly after, multiple children are seen being carried out and away from the scene.

SkyEye caputures what looked like residents running from the complex in an effort for police to search the area.

The suspect was taken to the Harris County Jail and faces a charge of felony evading, but more charges are still pending, HCSO said.
