1 dead after vehicle crashes ‘all the way through’ southeast Oak Cliff home, officials say

A person died Sunday after a vehicle crashed through a house in southeast Oak Cliff, according to Dallas Fire-Rescue.

About 3:30 p.m. Sunday, Dallas Fire-Rescue crews responded to a motor vehicle crash in the 6300 block of South Lancaster Road, said Jason Evans, a spokesman for the department. Dallas police officers were also dispatched to the location.

Emergency crews at the scene reported that a vehicle crashed “all the way through” a house, Evans said. Two people who were inside the home were not injured, he added.

The driver of the vehicle was pronounced dead at the location, Evans said. A passenger inside the car was hospitalized but Dallas Fire-Rescue did not have information about the seriousness of their injuries as of Sunday evening.

Emergency crews assessed the condition of the house and “determined that there was not enough structural compromise to necessitate further action,” Evans said in an email.

Dallas police is investigating the crash. The department has not provided information related to the identify of the driver who died following the crash as of 7:30 p.m. Sunday.
