7-year-old struck by vehicles on service road in North Dallas dies, police say

A 7-year-old died early Monday after being struck by multiple vehicles near a freeway in North Dallas, according to police.

Officers responded about 12:15 a.m. to the service road in the 7600 block of Lyndon B. Johnson Freeway and found the injured child and a driver who had struck the victim, police said.

The child, whose identity has not been released, died at the scene.

Investigators determined the victim was hit by an unknown vehicle that continued driving, then struck a second time by another vehicle. The driver of the second vehicle remained at the scene and is cooperating with law enforcement, according to police.

No arrests or charges have been announced.

The investigation is ongoing, including efforts to identify the driver and vehicle that initially struck the child and left the scene.
