An employee at Jack in the Box detains a 17-year-old suspect for the police following a fatal crash, as reported by the Houston Police Department

In west Houston on Friday evening, a teenager was taken into custody and charged with driving under the influence after a fatal incident involving a homeless man. The Houston Police Department reported that around 11:30 p.m., a man sleeping beneath the bridge on the Katy Freeway at the Silber overpass was struck by an SUV.

According to law enforcement, a 17-year-old is suspected of driving while intoxicated. Authorities stated that the teenager lost control of the vehicle, veering onto the curb under the bridge and fatally striking the man.

HPD mentioned that after the teen’s Mercedes SUV came to a halt, he attempted to flee. However, a Jack in the Box employee sprinted across the feeder road, apprehended the 17-year-old, and kept him in custody until the police arrived.
