American Airlines has restructured its customer support division, resulting in the elimination of 321 positions based at DFW Airport

American Airlines has announced the elimination of over 320 positions in North Texas as part of its restructuring of the customer service team.

The airline stated that the reorganization aims to enhance customer support in the future.

In a statement, American Airlines explained, “Today, we announced updates to our contact center organization that will help us better serve our customers. As part of these updates, we are creating a new Customer Success team that will be dedicated to providing more convenient, elevated support to American Airlines customers with some of their most complex travel needs.”

According to reports from The Dallas Morning News, an additional 335 workers in Phoenix will also be affected by the reorganization. The Customer Success team is expected to consist of 135 employees.

American Airlines clarified that the affected employees, who are not represented by a union, have the opportunity to apply for over 800 current job openings within the company, including positions on the restructured Customer Success team.

Employees who do not secure employment within the company or are eligible for retirement will be offered severance payments. Additionally, the airline will provide outplacement support for those seeking opportunities outside the company.

American Airlines assured that affected customer team members will continue to work and receive pay until March 30th.
