This weekend, celebrate the Lunar New Year festival at Ben Thanh Plaza in East Arlington

In East Arlington, the Year of the Dragon will be celebrated this weekend during a Lunar New Year festival at Ben Thanh Plaza.

The festival, taking place from Friday, Feb. 2 to Sunday, Feb. 4, is open to the public.

Attendees can enjoy a variety of activities, including a Lion Dance, live music, food vendors, and a flower market. Lucky money envelopes will also be distributed to children.

Ben Thanh Plaza boasts nearly 50 stores and a dozen dining options, offering something for everyone.

Numerous countries, including China, Korea, and Vietnam, follow the lunar calendar. This year, the Lunar New Year falls on Saturday, Feb. 10, marking the beginning of two weeks of festivities.

In the Year of the Dragon, NBC News suggests that individuals can anticipate good fortune, particularly if they embody the animal’s most significant trait: compassion.
