Authorities are on the lookout for a suspected child sexual assault offender believed to have breached his bond conditions

White Settlement Police are actively seeking a man connected to two victims of child sexual assault.

According to Police Chief Christopher Cook, 39-year-old Steven Skalij, who knew his victims, was reported based on a parent’s tip. Skalij was arrested in October 2023 on one count of sexual assault of a child.

Skalij’s criminal record, dating back to 2004, includes charges such as theft, assault with a deadly weapon, terroristic threats, and family violence. He was residing in a residence on Bomber Road, where multiple individuals, including teenagers and adults, were living.

Police expressed concern over allegations that individuals overlooked state laws regarding teenage consent in romantic relationships with adults.

Despite police requesting a $500,000 bond for Skalij, Judge Christopher Gregory set it at $100,000. The bond reduction was frustrating for law enforcement, especially after Skalij allegedly violated bond terms by contacting one of the victims upon release.

Despite being wanted by police, Skalij claimed to NBC 5 reporter Candace Sweat that he was not evading authorities.

As of Wednesday evening, Skalij remains a wanted individual, facing additional felony charges of child sexual assault.
