A surveillance camera recorded a shootout that occurred, causing residents of an apartment complex in Northeast Harris County to take cover

In northeast Harris County, a barrage of gunfire erupted at an apartment complex, causing residents to take cover on Tuesday evening. The intense exchange of gunfire left numerous bullet casings scattered throughout the parking lot and even inside some residences.

A neighbor’s surveillance footage, shared with , captured the dramatic shootout at 7:09 p.m. at the Autumn Pines Apartments, situated on Greens Road, north of the Eastex Freeway-North Beltway 8 interchange. For about 30 seconds, the sound of dozens of gunshots echoed as multiple individuals exchanged gunfire.

The bullets pierced through multiple units across various buildings, striking neighbors’ garages, windows, bedrooms, and even one woman’s flat-screen TV.

Ida Leffall recounted how she and her family were watching a movie when the gunfire erupted. They quickly took cover, fearing for their lives as the bullets flew.

Neighbors expressed their shock and gratitude that no one was injured despite the chaos and destruction. However, many were shaken by the incident and voiced concerns about the safety of the complex.

Despite the swift response from the Houston Police Department, little information was available about the suspects, except that four individuals reportedly fled the scene in a white car.

Residents lamented that this wasn’t the first shooting incident at the apartment complex in recent years, indicating a growing sense of unease and insecurity among them.

While inquiries about the number of police calls to the property remain unanswered, residents contemplate their next steps, with some considering breaking their leases due to safety concerns.

As the community grapples with the aftermath of the shootout, there’s a collective hope for change and an end to the senseless violence that threatens their peace and security.
