A woman from Texas has been sentenced to prison for making threats against the judge presiding over a case involving documents related to former President Trump

A Texas woman, Tiffani Gish, aged 50 and from Houston, received a three-year prison sentence on Friday after admitting guilt to charges of threatening a Florida judge overseeing the criminal case against former President Donald Trump regarding classified documents.

Gish pleaded guilty in November to making threats against U.S. District Judge Aileen Cannon. The Justice Department disclosed that Gish had left threatening voicemails, claiming to represent various military combat units and expressing intentions to harm the judge. In addition to the prison term, Gish was sentenced to three years of supervised release.

U.S. Attorney Alamdar Hamdani emphasized the importance of holding Gish accountable for her actions, highlighting the severity of threatening federal officials and the democratic process.

Heather Hughes, the federal public defender representing Gish, did not respond immediately to requests for comment.

Judge Cannon has scheduled a trial for May in the case where Trump faces allegations of possessing and concealing classified documents at his Mar-a-Lago estate, as well as sharing them without authorization. The trial is one of several legal proceedings involving the former president, who is actively pursuing the Republican nomination for the 2024 presidential election.

In a separate incident, Abigail Jo Shry of Alvin, Texas, faced charges last year for threatening U.S. District Judge Tanya Chutkan, who oversees a federal case involving Trump’s alleged interference in the 2020 election. Shry’s case is still ongoing.
