Fort Worth resident shoots cousin through home’s back door: police

An investigation has been launched following a shooting incident involving a man who was shot by a relative at a residence in a Fort Worth neighborhood early Saturday morning.

According to the Fort Worth Police Department, officers were dispatched to the 2500 block of Malvern Trail shortly after 4 a.m. in response to reports of a shooting.

Preliminary information suggests that a man, who is related to the homeowner of the residence, was attempting to enter the home through the back door when his cousin discharged several rounds through the door.

The man sustained at least one gunshot wound to the leg, as per authorities. He was discovered by Fort Worth officers and transported to a local hospital. His injuries are expected to be non-life-threatening.

The police department did not indicate whether charges would be pressed in connection with the shooting and did not provide further details at this time.
