Gridlock Alert: Road closures could slow down your plans this weekend

Attention commuters: Gridlock Alerts may impact your weekend travel plans.

Starting Friday at 9 p.m. through Monday at 5 a.m., two outbound lanes heading north on the Eastex Freeway will be closed. The closures will stretch from the north Sam Houston Tollway to Rankin.

For drivers seeking an alternate route, Old Humble Road is recommended.

Additionally, the east and westbound ramps to I-45 on the north Sam Houston Tollway will be closed during the same period. Drivers can use Greens Road as an alternative route.

A significant lane closure will also affect the Eastex Freeway until Sunday at 11 p.m. Three outside lanes from Hopper to Tidwell going southbound will be closed, impacting most of the main lanes.

In Galveston County, Delaney Road is currently closed on I-45 in both directions due to ongoing interchange reconstruction. However, the northbound section from FM-1764 to Delaney Road is set to reopen on Monday at 5 a.m.
