Mother among 2 dead, 1 hospitalized in fatal Richmond Ave crash, kids found injured in backseat: HPD

In West Houston on Sunday night, a fatal crash occurred, resulting in two deaths and one individual hospitalized with injuries, according to police.

Authorities suspect that speeding contributed to the collision involving a black Toyota sedan and a gray Scion SUV around 8 p.m. The incident took place on the 6300 block of Richmond Avenue near Greenridge Drive.

The black car had only a driver, while the gray SUV contained two adults in the front seats and two children in the backseats, officials stated.

Upon arrival at the scene, responders found both adults in the SUV deceased. Police believe the woman was the mother of the two children in the back seat, while the man was a relative. The children, aged five and ten, sustained minor injuries.

Investigators are in the process of obtaining video footage from nearby businesses and interviewing witnesses. Additionally, they are seeking family members who can provide care for the children.

A DWI task force has been deployed to speak with the surviving driver, who remains hospitalized with injuries.
