Despite the tech industry’s reputation for lucrative salaries and favorable working conditions, women continue to earn less than their male counterparts across most cities nationwide. To assist women in making informed decisions about where to work, RealtyHop conducted a study to identify the best cities for women in tech. The analysis considered income potential, housing market affordability, opportunities for women, and overall location to rank the top 100 cities.

Ranked at #9 on the list, Garland, situated in the Dallas-Fort Worth Metroplex of North Texas, emerges as an attractive option for women aspiring to homeownership.

According to the report, Garland boasts the most affordable housing market among the top 10 cities, with women in tech spending only 38.28% of their income on housing. The median list price for homes in Garland stands at $339,000, with women paying $2,214.22 monthly for mortgage and property taxes.

This affordability makes Garland an enticing choice for women in tech seeking homeownership while enjoying the benefits of residing in a vibrant city.

Beyond its thriving job market, Garland offers an excellent quality of life. The city features a lively downtown area replete with restaurants, bars, and shops. RealtyHop’s study also reveals key findings about other cities:

– Fremont, Calif., emerges as the best city for women in the tech industry due to its high median income, robust five-year growth, and a significant proportion of women in the field.
– Stockton, Calif., Santa Ana, Calif., and North Las Vegas, Nevada, are the three cities where women outearn men in tech, making them appealing destinations for women seeking tech careers.
– Conversely, Riverside, Calif., ranks as the worst city for women in tech due to its substantial income gap, unaffordable housing market, and declining female representation in the industry.

The study underscores the pervasive gender pay gap in the tech sector, with women earning less than men in 97 out of 100 cities analyzed. While there has been a positive increase in the number of women employed in tech over the past five years, achieving gender parity remains a significant challenge.
