Airbnb reveals Texas as the top destination for viewing 2024 solar eclipse

The upcoming Great American Solar Eclipse is generating significant interest, with Airbnb noting a celestial trend this spring leading up to the cosmic phenomenon.

New data reveals that numerous U.S. cities along the eclipse’s path are trending as top destinations for travelers, spanning from Mexico to the U.S. and Canada.

Texas, among the most sought-after states for bookings across North America on Airbnb, is particularly drawing attention for the solar eclipse. There has been a nearly 600% increase in searches on the platform for Texas over the solar eclipse weekend, making it a hotspot for guests worldwide. Interestingly, over 40% of listings along the path of totality in the state are still available for booking.

Based on the report, Dallas, Austin, and Hill Country stand out as some of the most booked cities in North America for the Solar Eclipse. Houston holds the distinction of being home to the highest number of eclipse-chasers booking travel across the path of totality in North America.

Adding to the allure, nearby Waco and Fredericksburg emerge as top trending domestic destinations for spring travel. Combining a spring getaway with this once-in-a-lifetime event seems like an enticing proposition.

Furthermore, Airbnb notes that its listings outnumber hotels by more than 15 times along the path of totality across North America. This abundance of options ensures that people can enjoy the eclipse in comfort and style, complete with all the necessary amenities.

The company also highlights that more than 10% of guests along the solar eclipse’s path opted to book with Airbnb for the first time during the event.

For those unfamiliar, a total solar eclipse occurs when the Moon passes between the Sun and the Earth, casting large areas of Mexico, the U.S., and Canada into shadow. This rare phenomenon will create the illusion of dawn or dusk in the middle of the day, offering skywatchers a breathtaking sight.

Scheduled for Monday, April 8, the solar eclipse promises to be a remarkable and unforgettable experience not to be missed.
