Globe Life Field ranks in bottom 10 MLB ballparks for concessions, study shows

As the MLB season approaches, fans are eagerly preparing for a day of fun at the ballpark. One crucial aspect that can greatly impact the experience is the range and affordability of concessions offered. A recent assessment conducted by OntarioBets.com has evaluated MLB ballparks based on their concession offerings and pricing.

This evaluation, termed the “MLB Concession Index,” incorporates four key metrics: the cost of beer, hot dogs, and water, along with an overall appetite score. The overall appetite score considers factors such as the variety of food options available, the presence of vegetarian or vegan choices, and the overall quality and diversity of concessions.

According to the study, Texas Rangers’ Globe Life Field in Arlington secured the 24th spot on the list, with a score of 4.98 out of 10. While the ballpark boasts a decent array of food options, prices for beer, hot dogs, and water were noted to be on the higher side.

Globe Life Field accommodates 10,341 concessions per square foot and offers 916 concessions per stadium capacity. As of 2024, the price of a beer per ounce stands at $0.66, while a hotdog costs $6.99.

Topping the rankings for the best concessions is T-Mobile Park, home to the Seattle Mariners, with an impressive index score of 8.74 out of 10. With a capacity of 47,929, T-Mobile Park offers an extensive selection of food and beverages, including fan favorites like pizza and hotdogs from various vendors.

At T-Mobile Park, patrons can enjoy a delicious hotdog for just $4.00 or grab a beer priced as low as $0.33 per ounce. For those seeking vegan or plant-based options, Pure Acai serves delectable Acai Bowls. With a diverse range of choices catering to all preferences, it’s no surprise that T-Mobile Park is hailed for its exceptional concessions.

Conversely, the ballpark with the lowest-ranked concessions is Oakland-Alameda County Coliseum, home to the Oakland Athletics, scoring 1.62 out of 10. This venue offers 21,852 concessions per square foot and 1,735 concessions per stadium capacity. In 2024, the price of a beer per ounce is $0.62, while a hotdog costs $7.79.

In summary, the study serves as a valuable resource for fans planning their ballpark visits, allowing them to assess which venues offer the best concession options and value for money.
