A 16-year-old boy is in recovery after sustaining a gunshot wound to the hip while attending a party overnight in Houston’s southside, as per the Houston Police Department.

The incident occurred after midnight on Saturday in the 15900 block of Schroeder.

According to HPD, the party drew around 30 teenagers, but tensions escalated when unfamiliar individuals, reportedly unknown to anyone present, arrived. This led to a confrontation, during which gunfire erupted, injuring the teenager.

HPD did not specify whether the teen was directly involved in the altercation or was an innocent bystander.

Details regarding the cause of the altercation or the parties involved remain unclear, according to police.

The injured 16-year-old was taken to the hospital and is expected to recover, according to HPD, with no other injuries reported.

Police are searching for Hispanic male suspects who may have fled the scene in a blue Ford F-150 truck.
