Mother shot at Harris County apartment alongside 2-year-old daughter speaks out

In Northwest Harris County, a woman who was shot alongside her 2-year-old daughter inside their apartment is bravely recounting the harrowing experience.

Alondra Ayala was in the midst of cooking hot dogs for her family at their Point Park apartment last Wednesday when chaos erupted.

As Ayala’s daughter’s father went outside to meet a man who had promised to sell them a car, Ayala was left inside with her daughter, who was wrapped in blankets and watching TV.

The man, who had previously shown them a black Dodge Challenger, entered and exited their apartment multiple times before convincing the father to accompany him to a nearby smoke shop.

During their absence, another man entered through an unlocked door, grabbed Ayala by her hair, and demanded to know where their belongings were, holding a gun to her face.

Forced into the main room, Ayala encountered a third man who also demanded to know the location of valuables.

Amidst the chaos, Ayala’s daughter entered the room, questioning what was happening. Ayala, fearing for their safety, could only respond, “Baby, I don’t know.”

A physical altercation ensued between the intruders and Ayala’s daughter’s father, during which he threw $2400 cash on the ground and readied his gun.

As the assailants fled empty-handed, shots were fired, injuring Ayala’s hands and lodging a bullet in her daughter’s elbow.

In a panic, the family fled the apartment, fearing the return of the attackers.

Jarrel McWilliams has been arrested by the Harris County Sheriff’s Office in connection to the incident. He was also wounded and hospitalized. McWilliams faces three counts of aggravated robbery.

Reflecting on the ordeal, Ayala expressed hope for justice and emphasized the innocence of her daughter, who bore the brunt of the violence. She also criticized initial assumptions made by the sheriff’s office, clarifying that the incident was not related to drugs as initially stated.
