Texas man changes name to ‘Literally Anybody Else’ to run for US president

Amidst recent polls indicating a lack of enthusiasm among voters for the current presidential candidates, a North Texas resident has taken a unique approach to the race.

A school teacher and U.S. Army veteran from North Richland Hills, formerly known as Dustin Ebey, legally changed his name to Literally Anybody Else and announced his candidacy for U.S. president.

Expressing dissatisfaction with the 2024 presidential contenders Joe Biden and Donald Trump, Else stated, “People are fed up. Government is supposed to be by the people, for the people, but that’s not what we have here. We have a billionaire and a career politician.”

Realizing the daunting task ahead, Else acknowledges the near-impossible odds of getting on the ballot, requiring a significant number of signatures from non-primary voters by May 13. In Texas, state law mandates that an independent candidate needs 113,151 signatures from registered voters who did not participate in the presidential primary of either party.

Given these challenges, Else is advocating for voters to write in Literally Anybody Else.

Campaigning before a Dallas Stars game and considering hosting a campaign event, Else primarily relies on word of mouth to spread his message. He hopes to soon hire an assistant to handle media inquiries and support.

On his website, Else emphasizes, “Literally Anybody Else isn’t a person. For too long, Americans have been victims of political parties prioritizing party loyalty over governance. Together, let’s send the message to Washington and say, ‘You will represent the people or be replaced.’ America should not be limited to choosing between the ‘King of Debt’ and an 81-year-old. Literally Anybody Else isn’t just a person; it’s a rallying cry.”
