Police search for suspects after grandmother shot to death in her Cedar Hill home

Evidence markers still remain outside the Cedar Hill residence where bullets shattered the front windows in the early hours of Tuesday morning, resulting in the tragic death of 45-year-old LaCrecia Thomas.

James Keys, who grew up alongside Thomas in a close-knit family from West Dallas, described her as the family’s centerpiece, someone who brought everyone together.

Struggling to comprehend the senseless act that took her life, Keys expressed his deep sorrow, emphasizing Thomas’s role as a confidante and source of support for him and others in the family.

Cedar Hill Police reported that neighbors heard multiple gunshots near Thomas’s home on Bailey Drive around 5:30 a.m. Tuesday, followed by a vehicle leaving the area. Although there were other individuals present in the home at the time of the shooting, no one else was harmed.

Brittany Williams, another cousin of Thomas, shared how Thomas had selflessly offered to care for Williams’s one-year-old son when she lost custody. Williams spoke fondly of Thomas’s unwavering love and support, highlighting her generosity and willingness to assist anyone in need.
