Bellaire man accused of pointing gun at 2 people arrested with 700 rounds of ammo, police say

A Bellaire resident was taken into custody on Wednesday after allegedly brandishing an AR-style rifle at two individuals while purportedly driving under the influence.

According to records, Cade Carlton Skeete, 31, is facing charges of DWI and aggravated assault with a deadly weapon.

The incident reportedly occurred around 6 p.m. near Bellaire Boulevard and Newcastle, just a short distance from Skeete’s residence. One of the victims stated to Eyewitness News that they were driving with an employee on Bellaire when Skeete drove up alongside them and made an obscene gesture.

Upon reaching a traffic light at Newcastle, the victim claimed Skeete again pulled up beside them, this time brandishing an AR-style rifle at them and their passenger.

The victim followed Skeete to the parking lot of the Bellaire United Methodist Church in an attempt to record his license plate. Allegedly, Skeete exited his truck with his weapon when confronted by the victim, who also drew a firearm in self-defense. Skeete eventually drove away from the scene.

Police later apprehended Skeete in the driveway of a nearby residence a few houses down from the church.

Upon searching his truck, authorities reported discovering two AR-style rifles, a handgun, and 700 rounds of ammunition.

Skeete is scheduled to appear before a judge on Monday.
