Neighbors on edge after dog owner dead blocks away from Washington Avenue: ‘Honestly kind of scared’

In the Washington Avenue Coalition/Memorial Park neighborhood of Houston, a man walking his dog was fatally shot in what appears to be a robbery, according to authorities.

The incident occurred in the parking lot of the Co-Op apartments on Summer Street, close to Washington Avenue, around 11 p.m. on Sunday.

Upon arrival, law enforcement officers attempted to provide assistance, but the man was pronounced dead at the scene, as confirmed by the Houston police.

The victim, believed to be in his 30s, sustained multiple gunshot wounds. The police are actively searching for the perpetrator.

Lieutenant J.P. Horelica stated, “We do have information that he lives here. He is a resident. Like I said, he was walking his dog this evening. There are some signs, we have to confirm, indication there was possibly a robbery involved.”

Investigators are currently scouring the area for surveillance footage as part of their ongoing investigation.
