Video shows peacock, goat leading North Texas officers on wild chase

On April Fool’s Day, officers from the Irving Police Department found themselves dealing with an unusual situation that initially seemed like a prank: a goat and a peacock causing havoc in different parts of the city.

Officer Turner, on patrol that morning, received dispatches regarding a goat running loose along Highway 183 and a peacock wandering through a neighborhood.

The goat had fallen off a trailer, traversed through shopping centers, and even made its way onto the highway, prompting authorities to temporarily close it down until the goat could be safely captured.

Brittany Polk, a senior officer at Irving Animal Services, remarked on the goat’s escapades, stating, “She gave everyone a run for their money that day.”

Bodycam footage of both chases was shared on the Irving Police Department’s Facebook page, highlighting Officer Turner’s efforts in apprehending the animals.

In a separate incident, Irving officers were called to capture an injured peacock roaming a residential neighborhood. The bird was found with a severe leg injury and required immediate medical attention, so it was transported to a wildlife rehabilitation clinic in Southlake.

Due to their lack of proper livestock facilities, Irving Animal Services handed over the goat to Dallas County animal services officers. Meanwhile, arrangements were made to treat the peacock’s injuries at another location.
