Wife of Harris County judge accused of killing nephew during fight about overstaying welcome

Mei Huang Wolfe, the wife of a Harris County judge, has been charged with murder after allegedly shooting and killing her nephew during a fight in west Harris County, according to the Harris County Sheriff’s Office. The incident occurred just before 9:20 p.m. Thursday in the 24300 block of Tesino River Circle.

Harris County Sheriff Ed Gonzalez stated that Mei Wolfe, along with her husband, Harris County Justice of the Peace Bob Wolfe, was present at the time of the shooting. Four adults, including the married couple, their nephew, and Mei Wolfe’s daughter, were inside the residence during the altercation.

According to deputies, a dispute erupted between Mei Wolfe and her nephew, leading to Mei allegedly retrieving a pistol and firing a shot. Bob Wolfe reportedly called 911 and attempted to intervene to prevent his wife from shooting their nephew.

Despite efforts by paramedics to save the victim, he was pronounced dead at the scene. The nephew, described as a recent college graduate in his early 20s, had been staying at his aunt and uncle’s home after traveling.

Gonzalez described the incident as a tragic situation and extended condolences to the victim’s family. He also noted recent instances of family and intimate partner violence in the area, emphasizing the need for awareness and prevention.

The sheriff’s office did not immediately release the name of the victim.
