Bank resolves issue for man whose credit card racked up nearly $15K in fraudulent charges

Action 13 has successfully intervened on behalf of a Montrose resident whose identity was stolen, resulting in significant progress for Frank Price in resolving his ordeal.

Price’s struggle with Capital One, detailed in our initial report in February, had persisted for almost a year, with the bank claiming he owed nearly $15,000 due to fraudulent charges.

According to Price, the situation was chaotic, with an unidentified individual accruing thousands of dollars in charges on his credit card, primarily at major retailers like Target. Despite efforts to rectify the situation, including obtaining a new card from Capital One, the fraudulent activity persisted, leading to further financial losses.

Price’s attempts to cancel the compromised card were unsuccessful, and he faced additional challenges when law enforcement agencies were unable to pursue the case effectively due to jurisdictional limitations.

However, after Action 13’s involvement and subsequent inquiries, Capital One launched a thorough investigation into Price’s case. We are pleased to report that Price’s issue has been successfully resolved, with credit issued back to his card.

This outcome underscores the importance of advocacy and highlights the positive impact that collaborative efforts can have in protecting consumers’ rights and interests.
