Suspect on the run after N. Harris Co. party leads to gunfire, critically injuring 1 man, HCSO says

The Harris County Sheriff’s Office is currently seeking an alleged shooter following a violent incident at a house party in Harris County, Texas. Deputies were called to the scene around 10:30 p.m. at the 400 block of Holtman Street. Sheriff Ed Gonzalez shared on X, previously known as Twitter, that a man had been found with a gunshot wound and was rushed to the hospital in critical condition.

A representative from HCSO mentioned that the victim had been shot in the chest but thankfully his injuries are not currently life-threatening. According to a neighbor, who preferred to remain anonymous, the property where the incident occurred is often used for events, and large gatherings are not uncommon.

The neighbor recounted witnessing the altercation and immediately calling 911. She described the chaotic scene, mentioning that initially, she mistook the gunshots for fireworks, a common occurrence at such gatherings. However, upon seeing the flare of the gun, she realized the seriousness of the situation and attempted to intervene, though she found it distressing.

Sheriff Gonzalez later informed that the victim, aged 22, was attending his son’s birthday celebration at the location. An altercation ensued when the son’s mother arrived with her boyfriend, leading to the alleged shooting.

The suspect reportedly fled the scene in a silver truck, and investigators are currently gathering statements from witnesses in hopes of locating and apprehending the individual responsible.
