Longtime NFL general manger looks to Texans draft night, says team was good with recent additions

The Texans’ offseason moves have garnered such acclaim that the NFL Draft may take on a different significance in Houston. ESPN’s Mike Tannenbaum has bestowed an “A-plus” rating on the Texans for their offseason acquisitions, including Stefon Diggs and Danielle Hunter. According to Tannenbaum, Nick Caserio’s maneuvers have positioned the Texans uniquely for the draft, with any perceived draft needs being mere nitpicking given the talent-laden roster.

Tannenbaum reserves particular praise for C. J. Stroud, describing him as a “full-field quarterback” with exceptional downfield accuracy that frustrates defensive coordinators’ strategies. He suggests that Stroud, as the potential NFL Rookie of the Year, should focus on making consistent plays rather than constantly aiming for remarkable throws, given the plethora of weapons at his disposal, such as Diggs, Nico Collins, and Tank Dell.

With the Texans possessing the flexibility to either wait until the 42nd overall pick or trade up into the first round, Tannenbaum highlights the luxury earned from last year’s successful draft, which yielded Stroud and Defensive Rookie of the Year Will Anderson Jr. Coupled with the offseason acquisitions that made waves across the NFL, the Texans find themselves in an enviable position heading into the draft.
