AMBER Alert issued for 2-year-old boy abducted in San Marcos

An Amber Alert has been issued by authorities in South Texas for a toddler who was reportedly abducted by a family member on Saturday afternoon, with concerns for the child’s safety.

Legend Torres, aged 2, was taken from Children’s Park on South CM Allen Parkway in San Marcos around 1:30 p.m., as reported by the San Marcos Police Department.

The child was last seen wearing a black shirt bearing the words “Legend Since April 2021,” along with black shorts and blue and white shoes. He is described as a Hispanic male with black hair, brown eyes, standing 3 feet 1 inch tall, and weighing approximately 30 pounds.

The suspected abductor, Joey Torres, 46, believed to be a relative of Legend, was spotted wearing a black t-shirt, gray shorts, and red and white sneakers. He is described as a Hispanic male, 5 feet 10 inches tall, weighing around 400 pounds, and with visible tattoos on his neck, legs, back, head, and earlobes.

Authorities suspect Torres may be headed towards the Dallas-Fort Worth Metroplex in a silver 2023 Mitsubishi Outlander bearing Texas license plate TKK-8328. Torres is considered armed and dangerous.

Anyone who witnessed the abduction at Children’s Park or possesses any information pertinent to the case is urged to contact Detective Cope at 512-781-8982.
