Woman attacks disabled man and attempts to steal crutch outside market on Houston’s east end: police

In Houston, Texas, authorities are seeking a woman who assaulted a disabled man outside a convenience store in the east end area.

Fortunately, the 63-year-old man sustained only minor injuries from the violent encounter.

Surveillance footage from DJ Supermarket on Harrisburg Boulevard captures the woman repeatedly striking the man and attempting to steal his crutch.

Some observers might question why the victim didn’t release the crutch during the assault. However, his family explains that he feared the assailant would use it to fatally harm him.

While he prefers not to be identified, the victim hopes that sharing the video will aid in the suspect’s apprehension.

Houston police describe the suspect as a woman in her thirties. The victim, a regular customer at the store, is a disabled individual.

Gonzalo Soriano, a witness to the incident, recalls being shocked by the sudden attack on his neighborhood acquaintance. The assailant, without uttering a word, proceeded to assault the man, leaving Soriano feeling powerless due to his own disability.

Unable to intervene, Soriano watched helplessly as the assailant used the victim’s crutch to throw him to the ground.

Soriano, fearing for his safety as well, believed he might become the next target of the assailant’s aggression.

Upon noticing the attack through the store’s surveillance system, an employee promptly contacted Houston police. However, by the time officers arrived at the scene, the assailant had fled.

HPD continues to search for the suspect and urges anyone with information to come forward.
