Celebrate National Small Business Week by growing your business

In recognition of National Small Business Week, we celebrate the vital role that these companies and their owners play in our economy.

A growing number of individuals are venturing into entrepreneurship, but the journey is often challenging.

According to a recent survey, a staggering 5.5 million new business applications were filed in 2023. Notably, there’s been a significant rise in the number of small businesses owned by women and minorities.

Among the surveyed new business owners, women accounted for 49% of the total. The representation of Black entrepreneurs doubled to 6% compared to pre-pandemic levels, while Hispanic entrepreneurs increased to 13%, marking a 5% rise from the previous year.

Dorie Smith, Deputy Director of 10,000 Small Businesses, underscores the importance of small businesses to the overall health of the U.S. economy. They serve as engines of economic growth and job creation within local communities.

10,000 Small Businesses offers invaluable support to small businesses, including free business education courses, access to capital, and personalized guidance from experienced business advisors. The program, fully funded by the Goldman Sachs Foundation, is currently accepting applications.
