Search for boater in Lake Houston called off until Wednesday morning

The search for a missing individual in Lake Houston has been postponed until Wednesday morning following an incident involving three boats.

Initially labeled as a water rescue operation by the Houston Fire Department at Alexander Deussen Park on Sonnier Street, the operation resulted in the rescue of two individuals from the water. However, one person remains unaccounted for.

Contrary to earlier reports, Harris County Sheriff Ed Gonzalez clarified that only one person was rescued after a boat capsized near the San Jacinto River Dam close to Eisenhower Park. Gonzalez mentioned that the Sheriff’s Marine Unit/Dive Team had been dispatched to the scene.

In an update later in the evening, the Houston Police Department stated that no recovery had been made yet. The Harris County Sheriff’s Office announced that the search would resume on Wednesday morning.

Due to the strong and rough current, the HCSO reported that its boat and diver were unable to search near the capsized boat. Additionally, a sheriff’s helicopter was deployed to survey the river and its banks for the missing individual.

Further details regarding the incident and the condition of those involved were not provided by authorities.
