Grocery worker stabbed multiple times in attempted robbery

A grocery store worker is in critical but stable condition after sustaining multiple stab wounds to the abdomen during an attempted robbery at a Kroger store in West Fort Worth on Wednesday afternoon.

According to Fort Worth police, the incident occurred just after noon at the Kroger on Camp Bowie West when a man armed with a knife entered the store and attempted to rob one of the cashiers.

During the robbery attempt, a woman in her 20s, whose identity has not been disclosed, was stabbed multiple times in the abdomen.

A representative for Kroger expressed condolences, stating that the entire Kroger family extends thoughts, prayers, and support to the injured employee and her family.

The victim was transported to a hospital in critical but stable condition.

Police have taken the robbery suspect into custody, although his identity has not been revealed, and the charges he will face remain unclear.

Kroger announced that they are cooperating with law enforcement and have closed the store until the investigation is complete. They also stated their intention to extend armed security services from opening until close, at least temporarily.

Witnesses were interviewed, and evidence was collected inside the store during the investigation, which lasted several hours.

James Mccaffrey arrived at the scene after receiving a message from his wife, who works at the store. She later exited the store safely.

Employee Eric Breithaupt, who attempted to report for work, was instructed to go home. He expressed concern for his safety, especially during his night shifts managing shopping carts in the parking lot.

Customers, including Marissa Billareal, who frequents the store, expressed shock and concern for the employees, many of whom they have come to know personally.

Police stated that the investigation into the robbery and assault is ongoing, and no further details have been released.
