Harris County Uniform Election results are in after polls close

In Harris County, a Uniform Election recently occurred on Saturday, drawing attention to key races including the special election for the remaining nine months of John Whitmire’s tenure in the Texas Senate. Molly Cook, an ER nurse, and State Rep. Jarvis Johnson, both Democrats, competed for this seat. Cook emerged victorious with 55.08% of the total 9,772 votes cast. Cook expressed gratitude for the support received and emphasized her commitment to representing District 15.

Additionally, the election featured races for director positions at-large in the Harris County Appraisal District (HCAD). Kathy Blueford-Daniels led with 54.52% of the 34,250 votes for Place 1, while Austin Pooley garnered 41.15% for Place 2 with 34,126 votes, and Ericka McCrutcheon secured 38% for Place 3 with 33,864 votes.

The significance of local elections was highlighted by Harris County Clerk Teneshia Hudspeth, emphasizing the accessibility of elected officials to the community. Early voting for the election commenced earlier, offering voters the opportunity to participate in selecting new members for the Harris County Appraisal District board and filling the vacant Texas Senate seat left by Whitmire.
