Man, woman shot in head during gunfire exchange in road rage incident on Eastex Freeway: HPD

In Houston, Texas, a man and a woman have been hospitalized after both sustaining gunshot wounds to the head in what authorities are describing as a road rage incident on the Eastex Freeway early Sunday morning.

The incident occurred just before 3 a.m. near the Jensen area.

According to Lt. Riley of the Houston Police Department, the man and woman were traveling from the Deer Park area back home at the same time as the suspect.

Although it remains unclear if they were coming from the same location, police believe that both parties believed they were being followed by each other.

Between Parker and Crosstimbers, an exchange of gunfire ensued between the vehicles, resulting in the man and woman being struck by gunfire.

The sequence of shots fired remains uncertain, according to Houston police.

Both the man and the woman were transported to the hospital. While the man’s condition was reported as stable, the woman was taken to the hospital in critical condition and admitted to the intensive care unit.

Authorities have taken a suspect into custody.

An investigation is currently ongoing to ascertain the circumstances that led to the shooting.
