Automobile auction facility catches on fire again, less than 6 months apart

Early Sunday morning, Denton County Fire responded to a structure fire at a car auction facility, as reported by Denton County Emergency Services. Witnesses observed a substantial column of smoke and flames in the 3700 block of McPherson Road.

Upon arrival, fire crews found multiple vehicles ablaze at the large automobile auction facility. Notably, a similar incident occurred at the same facility in December 2023.

Denton County Fire Chief Ricky Vaughn noted that weather conditions during both fire events were comparable.

Assistance in containing the fire was provided by the Justin Fire Department, Flower Mound Fire Department, Roanoke Fire Department, and Ponder Volunteer Fire Department. By approximately 4:57 a.m., reports indicate that the fire was brought under control.

According to Denton FD, a total of 45 vehicles were affected by the fire. The Denton County Fire Marshal’s Office has initiated an investigation into the incident.
