Student body-slammed and knocked unconscious by Garland ISD faculty, video shows

Jeremy Ashcraft received a call from his son’s school last Wednesday, informing him of an incident involving his 14-year-old son at Sachse High School, part of Garland ISD.

“It said that my son was involved in an altercation and was (involved in) an unprovoked attack,” Ashcraft recalled.

According to Ashcraft, his son was involved in a fight with another student, allegedly sparked by teasing in the bathroom. “Then boys being boys, trading words with each other is what led to it,” Ashcraft explained.

Garland ISD stated in a response to NBC 5 that a staff member intervened to prevent the altercation and ensure the safety of all individuals involved.

The district confirmed that a 38-second video posted on Snapchat is under investigation. Ashcraft described the video as showing a man pushing his son onto the stairs, putting him in a headlock, slamming him to the ground, and shoving him multiple times until he was knocked unconscious.

Ashcraft claims he was not informed of the video’s contents by school staff.

He received a medical report from the school nurse, which described the student’s injuries as knee and back pain, attributing them to an altercation with another student.

Ashcraft expressed doubt about the report’s accuracy, stating that it differed significantly from the video evidence.

His son received a three-day suspension as a result of the incident, but Ashcraft mentioned that his son is reluctant to return to school.

The family filed a report with the Sachse Police Department, prompting an investigation into the matter.

Garland ISD declined to discuss the job status of the staff member involved but emphasized that the incident remains under investigation.

“We want to assure our families that the safety and well-being of our students are the top priority at Garland ISD,” a spokesperson for the district stated.
