Houston’s annual Holi Festival celebrates the start of springtime in Texas, and it’s one of the biggest festivals in the U.S. Holi Festival-goers danced, chanted, clapped and cheered to ring in springtime in Texas.

The Hindu festival of Holi began on Saturday at 12 p.m. at Crown Festival Park in Sugar Land. Dozens of Houston-area families came out to celebrate the day by throwing brightly colored pigments on every person in sight, “welcoming the brightness and happiness of Spring.”
Houston’s Holi Festival featured a live Bollywood Concert, all day “color” play and Bollywood and Indian folk dance performances.

The origin of the Holi festival actually stems from ancient theme of the triumph of good, “Visnhu” over evil, “Holika.”
