Near-freezing temperatures expected in the Houston area overnight

Houston residents will have to endure a bit more cold weather before walking out of the house in short sleeves again.

The forecast for the Houston area shows temperatures dropping to the mid-30s Monday night before warming up later in the week, according to the National Weather Service.

The coldest temperatures are expected north of Houston. Low temperatures in Conroe and Crockett are expected to fall to 35, while temperatures in Houston will fall to 44, the forecast shows.

High pressure in the region is causing the colder temperatures and clearer skies, according to meteorologists.

By Tuesday, temperatures are expected to rise to 70 degrees with a low of 54. Temperatures will reach as high as 82 by Friday, according to the forecast.
