Off-duty Celina police officer, 6-year-old daughter killed in chain-reaction crash

An off-duty Celina police officer and his young daughter died in a chain-reaction crash Monday afternoon in Grayson County.

KTEN-TV reported that the crash took place at State Highway 56 and Old Sanborn Ranch Road near Whitesboro, about 60 miles north of Dallas, when a garbage truck rear-ended a car. Several other vehicles were involved in the ensuing pileup.

Detective K.C. Robinson, 33, and his 6-year-old daughter, Brynlee, were pronounced dead at the scene, Celina officials said.

The officer’s wife was hospitalized in critical condition, KXII-TV reported.

Robinson was a member of the Celina department for three years.

“Every heart in this tight-knit community breaks tonight,” Celina Mayor Sean Terry said in a written statement. “Detective Robinson served our city as passionately as he loved his family, and we’ll miss his presence on our streets and in our lives.”
