1 dead after early-morning shooting in west Oak Cliff

One person was dead after a shooting in west Oak Cliff early Monday.

Dallas police were called just after 3:30 a.m. to a convenience store parking lot in the 1200 block of North Hampton Road, near Fort Worth Avenue.

Dallas Fire-Rescue took a shooting victim from that location to a hospital, and police said the victim died. That person’s name has not been released.

Police said a witness linked that case to an earlier crime scene at an apartment complex in the 2500 block of Bahama Drive, about half a mile away.

A department spokeswoman did not provide additional information about the incidents, but KDFW-TV (Channel 4) reported that the victim may have been breaking into a vehicle at the apartment complex and that his wife drove him to the convenience store.

Authorities have not released any information about whether there is a suspect in the shooting.
