Man arrested in kidnapping, sexual assault of Parker County woman

A 44-year-old man is accused of locking a Parker County woman in her bedroom before he sexually assaulted her last week, police say.

Anthony Glenn Gravely of Paradise faces charges of aggravated kidnapping, sexual assault, assault/family violence impeding breath and a parole violation in connection with the Dec. 17 attack.

The woman came home about 4:30 p.m. that day and found Gravely outside, investigators said. He followed her inside, and when she told him to leave he grabbed her by the throat and forced her into the bedroom. When she tried to flee, Gravely took her keys and cellphone and locked her inside, police said.

The woman escaped from the house, but Gravely caught her while she was outside a nearby home pleading for help. No one was inside, and Gravely dragged her back to her home, police said.

Once there, Gravely physically and sexually assaulted her, investigators said.

One of the woman’s relatives checked on her about 10 a.m. the next morning because she had not shown up for work. When no one came to the door, he forced his way in through a window and saw Gravely with the woman and helped her escape.

By the time deputies arrived, Gravley was gone, but he was found and arrested in the area that day.

“This is a very brutal case,” Parker County Sheriff Russ Authier said. “No woman should ever have to go through this. It’s unconscionable, and we need to send a clear message to the world that the women of Parker County will not be subject to this kind of treatment.”

Gravely was in the Parker County Jail with bail set at $500,000. It was unclear whether he has an attorney.

Court records show Gravely served time in 2019 for assault of a family/household member and in 2020 for terroristic threat of family/household.
